I've ended up simply buying a thinner HDD and putting that in the OptiBay because of the boot issues. The OCZ firmware helped a little, but didn't get rid of the problem completely. With a HDD in the optibay, it works fine though.

Hi! I have exactly the same problem like you had. WD hard disk won't fit in optibay slot (1 tb, too large, the back lid sticks out if I place it in optibay). But when I swap them (SSD Vertex 2 120gb in optibay slot, WD HDD in regular slot) my Macbook Pro (13" 2010) won't boot (Question mark folder icon). When i unplug WD hdd from first slot ssd boots fine from optibay.I tried updating my SSD firmware to latest version (1.33) but stil no luck. Are you using any jumpers on your WD hard disk?

Yes, just a typical folder that's named after media type.
I just set the download path for Chrome to /Volumes/SSD/Storage.
Try google for how to disable hibernate.
Try letting it stay with the lid down for a while after sleepign for the first time. Don't assume it's frozen and broken after a minute.
